Springtime Car Maintenance Checklist

Springtime is coming, and we all know what that means. No we did not mean spring cleaning; it is time for your car maintenance. Now that winter has finally gone, you can take a sigh of relief and make sure that your car not only drives well, but also looks great as well. Contrary to what most people think, car maintenance is not costly; in fact, it saves you a lot of money in the long run!

Checklist

Fluid Inspection

The most important step to begin car maintenance at any time is to check if it requires any fluid. Ignoring these fluids can cause a lot of damage to your car. Especially important is ensuring that transmission and oil are at the ideal capacity.

Washing and Waxing

The hail and snowfall during the winter season can cause a lot of deterioration to your car. So as soon as winter is over, you should take the chance to wash your car and wax it, making it look smoother and shinier than ever. Cleaning your car with a cloth just won’t do, so take the extra step and give your car a good freshening up!

Tires

The first course of action to take before tire maintenance is to check if you had installed winter tires to your cars, and if so, to make sure that you replace them with regular tires. After that, you should make sure that your tires’ pressure range is within recommended range, which is usually around a psi of 30 to 32.

Replacing Windshield Wipers

The wipers of your windshield go through a lot wear and tear during the winter season, and lose their smoothness along the way. So be sure to change your windshield wipers during the springtime maintenance. While we’re on the subject of replacing, why not check your cars battery as well just to make sure that it is in optimal condition, and if it’s not, then changing it would be in your best interest.

Air Filter Inspection

To make sure that your engine is running ideally, be sure to check on your air filter, because an air filter that is obstructed will have a negative impact on your car’s engine performance. Reduction of gas mileage usually happens because of a clogged air filter.

Don’t forget the Brakes

It is important to make sure that your car’s brakes are in good condition. If the brakes are rough and the light for brake check is shining brightly on your dashboard, changing your brake pads is the best course of action to take.
